German Knife Set Builder

Most knife blocks hold more than you need. Answer a few questions and this builds a short list of German-style knives that fits how you cook.

Pick your options and press the button.

How this works

German-style knives usually have heavier blades and slightly softer, tougher steel than most Japanese knives (roughly 56 to 58 on the Rockwell C scale for the major German makers), which makes them forgiving and easy to hone. The list starts with the two knives nearly every cook uses and adds the rest only when your answers call for them.
